ROYAL PETTINESS? JOHOR PALACE ISSUES LETTER TO MINISTER SALAHUDDIN AYUB FOR WEARING BLACK PANTS RAYA ATTIRE

PETALING JAYA – The Johor palace has issued a letter to Salahuddin Ayub reminding him of the royal dress code after photographs of the agriculture and agro-based industry minister decked in a baju Melayu and black pants emerged.
A source close to the minister said that the Pulai MP received the letter on June 20.
“The Johor Council of the Royal Court hopes that Datuk, as a Johor native, takes note of the regulation and preserves as well as upholds the Johor culture,” the letter read. It was signed by council president Abdul Rahim Ramli.
On June 5, Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim uploaded a picture of Salahuddin decked in a baju Melayu and black pants when performing prayers at the National Mosque, on the first day of Hari Raya, along with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
On the same day, Tunku Ismail, popularly known as TMJ, also uploaded a picture of himself, his siblings and the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
They were dressed in a baju Melayu, paired with black pants.
Tunku Ismail went on to write that it was the traditional attire of the Johor royalty and this was why no one else in the Johor government wore black pants.
