Some Background On Ismee Ismail, The Witness Against Najib

It is believed that Ismee has turned state witness to avoid being charged and tried as an accomplice. And it is also believed not only does the Attorney General, Tommy Thomas, know that Ismee’s hands are dirty, but Tommy was also a party to blackmailing Ismee to testify against Najib or else get tried alongside Najib.

ECM Libra and Tabung Haji are amongst two of many companies that have been embroiled in scandals over the last 15 years. And guess whose name pops up when you investigate these companies?
Yes, our good old Ismee Ismail who said he took orders from former SRC International Sdn Bhd CEO, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, and who, according to Ismee, “has a tendency to lie, misrepresent facts and figures, and manipulate company’s accounts and financial statements.”
And that, added Ismee, was the reason why he resigned from SRC — because Nik Faisal was a dishonest person.
Ismee said Nik Faisal declared that instructions on what to do came from Najib Tun Razak but Ismee never checked with Najib whether this was true or not. So, not only is Ismee’s testimony in court mere hearsay, but hearsay he never checked to see whether was true or not.

Those in the industry say that Ismee is corrupted like hell and is merely pretending to be innocent. Looking at his track record, it is most likely he was an accomplice of Nik Faisal in cheating SRC International and 1MDB and then bailed out after the fraud before the shit hit the fan.

Nik Faisal is a liar and a cheat, says Ismee Ismail

(The Star, 30 June 2016) – Malaysia’s pilgrimage fund board, Lembaga Tabung Haji, has appointed Datuk Johan Abdullah as the group managing director and chief executive officer effective July 1.
Tabung Haji said on Thursday Johan succeeds Tan Sri Ismee Ismail who completed his service at end-June after a tenure of more than a decade on the board.

(Ibnu Hakeem, Malaysiakini, 7 August 2006): Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin clarified that he borrowed money to buy a substantial stake in fledgling financial advisory company ECM-Libra.
Exchange filings showed that Khairy bought 13 million shares at 71 sen per share in three separate transactions from acquaintance and ECM-Libra’s chairperson Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan, chief executive officer Lim Kian Onn and chief operating officer Chua Ming Huat.

Ismee Ismail was in ECM Libra when they did their controversial business deals, and in the supposedly now “bankrupt” Tabung Haji

Khairy has been a director of ECM-Libra since July 2004, not long after his father-in-law, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, succeeded Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister
According to Section 131 of the Companies Act, it is illegal for a company to make a loan to anyone (especially a director) to buy its own shares. In this case, ECM Libra is also a financial institution (a so-called investment bank) which means it is also under the purview of the Bafia (Banking and Financial Institutions Act). The Bafia has a few more restrictions than the Companies Act.
Since Khairy has made a public confession, the attorney-general and Bank Negara should investigate if there is any breach of either the Companies Act, the Bafia, or both.

Tabung Haji mencatatkan keuntungan melebihi RM1 bilion sejak lima tahun berturut-turut.

ECM Libra Financial Group Berhad has a stake in Pos Malaysia Berhad (PMB) through its acquisition of Avenue Capital Resources in 2006. That deal left a bitter taste in the mouths of those knowledgeable in the financial world as it was a clear case of insider’s trading. Note that Khairy Jamaluddin was a Director of Investment in ECM Libra in 2004 before he tendered his resignation after this infamous debacle. However, Pak Lah’s closest crony, Dato’ Seri Kalimullah is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ECM Libra.

Khairy Jamaluddin and his ECM Libra deal was the reason why Tun Dr Mahathir attacked Pak Lah

Recently, PMB was given the job of giving out the cash rebates to replace of fuel subsidy. It is quite odd on why JPJ was not given this role but instead it was given to a postal service company. Instead of the more efficient and more relevant job function of the JPJ, these cash handouts responsibility were thrusted into the already mountainous variety of services PMB had to handle. The only defence that Pak Lah might see the appropriateness of this move is the many branches of post offices nationwide which the public can easily have access.
But now, let’s see how Pak Lah and his cronies get extra money out of this purportedly for the rakyat’ act of selflessness.
For every transaction, PMB will get 10 sen commission on every RM10 of that RM625 and RM150 (for cars and motorcycles respectively). That means, for every transaction, PMB will get RM6.25 for cars and RM1.50 for motorcycles in the form of transaction fees.

Kalimullah Hassan is back in the corridors of power and now in Team Daim

There is about 11 million cars and 8 million motorcycles in this country at the moment. Let’s do the math :
RM6.25 x 11 millions = RM68.8 million (for cars)
RM1.50 x 8 millions = RM12 million (for motorcycles)
A cool total of RM81 million for the whole exercise per year. Even if we use pareto principle and apply the 80/20 ratio, RM65 million (80% out of RM82 million) would still fall in their hands. And this does not include the commission from RM200 subsidy to be given to each fishermen in the country!
With RM117 million already paid out during the first day, I wonder how much PMB will collect by March 2009. This role was given to PMB and not JPJ because PMB is a public listed company (read: profit oriented) while JPJ is government owned entity (read : no cost to public). It’s even funnier that those who own cars 2,000cc and above were told to claim their RM200 rebate from the JPJ, not PMB. Why is this? Well, there are not many people with cars above 2,000cc in Malaysia anyway. And JPJ do not impose any fees.
This cunning way of trying to ‘help’ the poor while at the same time enriching one self is very much prevalent in Pak Lah’s administration. What’s worse, they are emptying the nation’s coffers (from the Treasury) in the form of cash rebates and transfer a percentage of it into their own pockets (through fees paid into PMB and ultimately into ECM’s bank accounts).
And that my friends is how the poor get screwed to help the rich get even richer! (Orang kaya menjadi bertambah kaya kerana orang miskin).
These poor people did not realise that they had helped finance Pak Lah’s cronies indirectly.
