Sparks fly in PKR over Zuraida's dissenting views

Zuraida Kamaruddin's dissenting views on PKR's refusal to sack Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz has ignited friendly-fire among party members.
Her allies have launched a counter-offensive against detractors, who criticised the vice-president for refusing to toe the line.
Yesterday, PKR Youth secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razab pointed out that Zuraida was part of the political bureau decision to issue a show cause letter to Haziq last week.
He said the PKR leader's move to question this decision now reflected poor discipline.
Earlier today, Wanita PKR vice-chief Faizah Ariffin called for disciplinary action to be taken against Zuraida.
Coming to her defence, Johor Wanita PKR chief Rahamizon Abdul Ghani rebuked Faizah for making comments against a senior party leader.
"Faizah should focus more on helping Wanita PKR chief Haniza Talha," she said, adding that she should not allow the opposition to take advantage of the party's internal turmoil.
Zuraida was the former Wanita PKR chief while Haniza is her chosen successor.
Meanwhile, Zuraida's political secretary Hizwan Ahmad said Faizah should understand freedom of speech and democracy in the party.
"Her failure to understand this shows her foolishness and failure to appreciate the true meaning of PKR's struggle," he added in a separate statement.
He said that even though Zuraida's statement appeared to go against the mainstream, it should be respected.
Yesterday, Zuraida, who is aligned to PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, told the media that Haziq was fortunate she was not the PKR president.
"If I was the party president, I would have sacked him already. I asked the party to fire him but it wanted to follow due process, then so be it," she said
Calls for Haziq's head to roll followed his confession of having sexual encounters with Azmin. Haziq is the Santubong PKR chief.
Azmin has dismissed the videos as a nefarious attempt to ruin his political career. - Mkini
