The world media is writing Mahathir’s political obituary

1998 was also about sodomy and the question of when Mahathir would hand over the premiership to Anwar. Today, Malaysians are saying that Anwar is as impatient as he was back in the nineties and took revenge by architecting Azmin’s sex scandal. Source (pic): TTF Files

Soon after the May 2018 election, The Third Force spoke of an American conspiracy to paint Mahathir up to be a savior, use him to defeat Barisan Nasional before demonising him to trigger his downfall.

The plan was to give the old man one year before the world media would come together to rip him apart. That’s happening.

It seems that even if Mahathir were to fill up yet another money pot with RM2 billion before distributing the dough to media head honchos like he did in 2015, he’s never going to get them on his side.

As we speak, the Americans are already pumping in much, much more to write his political obituary and are prepping Anwar up for the role of Prime Minister.

SUBANG JAYA: Bloomberg is no longer optimistic that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad can deliver the new Malaysia he promised voters prior to the 14thgeneral election (Ge14).
Yesterday, the New York based daily called it dirty politics when referring to the sex scandal involving Dato’ Seri Amin Ali and Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and noted how things were moving back the way they were in the eighties and nineties.
The inference was clear – Mahathir himself struck Azmin, not Anwar.
A stark contrast to the optimistic tone taken months ahead of the general election, Bloomberg no longer refers to Mahathir as a ‘reformed’ statesman who can prevent the country from becoming ‘bankrupt’ owing to the ‘kelptocratic’ mess Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak left behind.
The report read:
A little more than a year after Mahathir Mohamad engineered the country’s first transfer of power in six decades, some of the same problems that have long beset Malaysia are popping up again.
At the center of it all is the question of when Mahathir will hand over power to one-time political nemesis Anwar Ibrahim, who leads the biggest party in the ruling alliance.
“The time is not very specific,” Mahathir said at the Bloomberg Asean Business Summit in Bangkok on Friday when asked about the time frame for handing over power to Anwar.
“I made a promise knowing my relationship with him was not always that good,” he added in the interview with Bloomberg Television’s Haslinda Amin. “But the fact is I made a promise and I stick to my promise.”
The indicator is clear – the daily is picking only on key issues that summed up 1998 Malaysia, hinting that if Mahathir remains, we may find ourselves rolling as far back as the eighties.
1998 was about sodomy and the question of when Mahathir would hand over the premiership to Anwar. It’s no different today, with many convinced that Anwar is as impatient as he was back then and took revenge by architecting Azmin’s downfall.
The aim, it seems, was for the PKR president to kill two birds with one stone – let people see that his former jailer, Mahathir, hasn’t changed one bit and for them to pressure the old man to step down.
But if that were to be the case, Anwar would never have implicated Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali in a sex scandal as the latter is known to be Mahathir’s blue-eyed boy and someone the Prime Minister would defend to kingdom come.
That has many considering the possibility that the old man himself architected the scandal to weaken Azmin before handing over the country’s premiership to him.

Still, irrespective who the culprit is, Bloomberg seems to be shifting the conversation away from Mahathir by no longer referring to him as “a boon to the nation.”
