Wan Azizah: No need for Harapan, PKR will resolve sex video scandal

There is no need for the Pakatan Harapan presidential council to discuss the sex video scandal implicating PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, said Harapan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
This is because PKR can resolve the matter by itself, she told the media when met at her residence in Kuala Lumpur this evening.
"At the moment, the matter is being resolved and it (the scandal) is slowly dying down," she said.
This morning, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would not interfere in PKR’s internal affairs.
"I don't interfere," Mahathir replied when asked if he would intervene to prevent a rift within PKR.
Elaborating further, Wan Azizah believed Mahathir had meant that the matter would not be brought up at the Harapan presidential level.
She also said the cabinet did not discuss the sex video scandal at its weekly meeting today.
"No, it wasn't discussed. It wasn't in the agenda," she said.
Debate over the scandal has been perceived to deepen factional divides within PKR.
However, Wan Azizah described the debate as reflecting mere differences within the party, which occurred in politics.
Four sex videos, purportedly featuring Azmin, had been distributed via WhatsApp since June 11.
Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz claimed to have been one of the men featured in the videos, with the other being the minister.
PKR had discussed the sex video scandal in its past two weekly political bureau meetings, although Azmin had not been in attendance.
The party's secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has said Azmin and party president Anwar Ibrahim are in contact with each other.  - Mkini
