Why Is It So Difficult To Identify Tanker Attackers In The Straits Of Hormuz

Who are attackers of the SIX tanker ships in the Straits of Hormuz? The US, Saudi and allies are pointing fingers at Iran but that is only in their comments in the media. 

There has been no evidence offered by any country about who or which country is behind the attacks. They have not positively confirmed Iran as the culprit.

• U.S. publicly blamed Iran, similar incidents in May off UAE.
• US allies cautious responses, reluctant to take US at its word.
• Iraq debacle, false statements result in significant lack of credibility in U.S. 

On the contrary the Iranian Coast Guard not only saved the crew from the last two tankers that were attacked but also "removed" an unexploded limpet mine from one of the ships. 

Some folks in the know have suggested another culprit - Saudi Arabia - which may be behind these attacks against the tankers. 

Saudi Arabia is getting more panicky and desperate. After FOUR years of Saudi bombing Yemen, the Yemenis are now bringing the war home into Saudi Arabia.

Today (Monday) for the THIRD time the Yemenis have attacked the Abha Airport in Saudi Arabia. This is a mountain resort city close to the Yemen border.

Although each attack only causes minimal damage, the repeat attacks causes people (and airlines) to avoid using the airport. It effectively shuts down an airport for very little cost (on the Yemenis).

Saudi Arabia with its F15 and F16 jets, Patriot missiles and MI Abrams equipped army does not seem able to stop these small and cheap drones. The drones are too small to be picked up by Saudi radar.  (This is where they need to consult the Russians who defeated a drone swarm attack on the Syrian port of Tartus - using AI technology.) 

The drones also very successfully attacked oil installations in Riyadh the Saudi capital. They also attacked other airports in Jizan, Najran and the King Khaled airbase in Khamis Mushait. 

It is quite a remarkable feat for these drones to be successfully guided and deployed to hit their targets accurately over some distances. The distance from Riyadh to the Yemen border is over 700 km.  I believe some of these drones could be launched from inside Saudi territory.  

The Saudis are panicking.  This escalation is now coming from the Yemen and the Saudis seem quite helpless.   The attacks against the oil tankers do help the Saudi cause - if they can pin the blame for the attacks on the Iranians.
