PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is already facing 47 counts of criminal breach of trust and money laundering cases, is expected to be slapped with fresh charges.
It is learnt that the former deputy prime minister will be charged in connection with a case involving a private company dealing in bringing in Chinese tourists to Malaysia.
According to sources, he is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Court on Wednesday and Shah Alam Court on Thursday.
However the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remained tight-lipped on the matter.
Earlier today, Zahid was called in to have his statement recorded by the graft busters.
He arrived at the commission headquarters about 9.30am in a black Toyota Velfire and left three hours later.
Reporters who had gathered as early as 9am to catch a glimpse of the off duty Umno president, were left in limbo as they were only informed at 5pm that Zahid left the commission after being quizzed.
It is learnt that Zahid is being investigated under Section 16 (a) MACC Act 2009.
He was previously slapped with 47 court charges since Oct last year.
These included 11 counts of criminal breach of trust amounting to RM21-million, eight graft charges involving RM21-million and 27 counts of money-laundering totalling up to RM72-million.
He has claimed trial to all charges.
