Lawyer’s RM50mil suit against Lokman Adam postponed to December 2024

Senior lawyer Rosli Dahlan (left) is suing Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Adam for claiming, among others, that he had illegally profited from the government’s 1MDB asset recovery efforts.

KUALA LUMPUR: The hearing of the RM50 million defamation suit by senior lawyer Rosli Dahlan against Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam has been postponed to December next year.

The case was previously set to be heard by High Court judge Arief Emran Arifin at 9am today.

Berita Harian reported Lokman as confirming the case’s postponement to the end of 2024, while Rosli confirmed that the move was on Lokman’s request.

It was previously reported that Rosli filed the suit against Lokman for defamatory statements that included the claim that the lawyer for 1MDB had illegally profited from the government’s asset recovery efforts.

Lokman is alleged to have accused Rosli of receiving RM1.7 billion in legal fees, 10% of the RM17 billion settlement with Goldman Sachs in the 1MDB case.

He had also allegedly accused Rosli of giving RM500 million from his legal fees to Bersatu.

Rosli has denied both claims, and has previously secured an open apology from the Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) for similar defamatory claims.

C4 has admitted the allegations are false and had no basis whatsoever. - FMT
