MYAirline offers refunds to affected passengers

Budget airlines MYAirline is now offering refunds to passengers affected by the suspension of its operations.

Interim Accountable Executive Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the airline is expediting the refund process and requests patience as they are handling a high volume of over 12,000 e-mails.

“MYAirline is also in the process of establishing a hotline to better assist our affected passengers,” he said in a statement.

To facilitate the refund process, passengers are encouraged to provide their booking number (PNR) and e-mail customercare@myairline.my.

Regarding the employment status of MYAirline personnel, Azharuddin clarified, “All MYAirline personnel are still under full employment. We have not placed anyone on unpaid leave.”

He also said the stricken airline has received multiple interests to enter in strategic partnerships and is diligently evaluating the proposals.

In a statement at 5.30am on Thursday, MYAirline announced it was pulling the plug due to financial constraints and advised passengers not to proceed to the airport.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke subsequently called the airline irresponsible but did say MyAirline told Mavcom it would be providing refunds to passengers.

The minister said approximately 125,000 people, including those who bought flight tickets in advance, were affected by the sudden decision.

The value of ticket sales - booked up to March 2024 - amounted to approximately RM20 million, he said.

A number of other airline companies have offered discounted tickets to the affected passengers. - Mkini
