KOTA BHARU: Eron Binchar of the Temuan tribe in Pahang went the extra mile to show a father’s love knows no bounds when he borrowed a car and endured a 300km drive to ensure his daughter could chase her dream of going to university.
Eron, 41, and his wife, Fatimah Ali, 49, set out from their home on Saturday night in his brother’s Proton Saga to register their daughter Fida Adira, 20, Bernama reported.
They took about four hours to drive from Kampung Sungai Bot Telemung in Karak to the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan campus in Bachok, near here.
Fida enrolled for the bachelor’s degree programme in heritage studies yesterday.
Eron said his eldest daughter had previously received an offer to pursue further studies at a university. “Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, we had to turn it down. This time, I was determined to overcome these financial challenges and ensure they don’t hinder my daughter’s success,” he said.
He works in the village in a remote area and earns a modest income.
“Fida has consistently shown dedication and excellence in her studies since a young age. I am determined not to disappoint her and support her ambition to pursue higher education,” he said. - FMT
