Aman Palestin director claims trial to 52 CBT charges worth over RM20m

Aman Palestin executive director Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman today claimed trial to 52 counts of criminal breach of trust amounting to over RM20 million.

In the same court, Aman Palestin CEO Awang Suffian Awang Piut also claimed trial to identical CBT charges.

The duo were charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court in their capacity as directors of Syarikat Samudra Champa Sdn Bhd, entrusted with assets in the form of money belonging to Aman Palestin Bhd.

All 52 charges, punishable under Section 409 of the Penal Code, involve alleged transactions between March 12, 2018, and Nov 3 last year, at a Maybank branch in Bandar Baru Bangi.

After the charges were read, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib said both parties had agreed for bail to be set at RM1 million, with a RM500,000 deposit to be paid by today and the remaining amount before March 14.

Sessions Court judge Anita Harun sets March 14 for mention.
