An additional six districts, including Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Pendang, Kota Star, and Langkawi, have received a Level-1 alert, with temperatures anticipated to hit a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that daytime temperatures in Pokok Sena could fluctuate between 37 to 40 degrees Celsius over the next three days.

"Meanwhile, temperatures in Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Pendang, Kota Star, and Langkawi are expected to range from 35 degrees to 37 degrees Celsius during the same period," it said.

Meanwhile, state MetMalaysia director Muhammad Khalil Abd Aziz has urged Kedahans to exercise caution during the extreme heat.

"Please limit outdoor activities, if you have to go outside, opt for light-coloured apparel, wear hats, and use parasols.

"Inside, make use of air conditioning and fans, and most crucially, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and minimising intake of caffeinated drinks," he added. - NST
