A Bersatu leader has come to the defence of party president Muhyiddin Yassin, who was accused of spreading fake news yesterday.
Bersatu information chief Razali Idris chided Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil for coming up with such an accusation against a leader like Muhyiddin.
"Muhyiddin is a former prime minister, former deputy prime minister, and former menteri besar. He had also held several other cabinet portfolios before this.
"Thus, he is someone who is well respected, a man of principle and integrity, truthful and fearless.
"On the other hand, who are you? You are brave now merely because you have the power as a minister," Razali (above) said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Fahmi accused Muhyiddin of spreading fake news regarding the Federal Court’s decision to strike down 16 Kelantan syariah criminal provisions.
Muhyiddin claimed that the decision has made several activities that are against Islamic rules no longer an offence for Muslims in Kelantan.
Following this, Fahmi, who is also the government spokesperson, responded on X by saying: "Muhyiddin is spreading fake news."
‘Watch your mouth’
Razali's defence of Muhyiddin, however, did not provide any point to prove Fahmi wrong.
Nevertheless, Razali said Bersatu would not let anyone ridicule Muhyiddin’s strong and brave statement in defending Islamic laws.
"Watch your mouth Fahmi, do not simply run your mouth," he said while calling Fahmi a "minister hiding behind the mask of Dajjal".
Razali also suggested that authorities investigate Fahmi over the alleged leak of the Pardons Board's decision to reduce former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's jail sentence. - Mkini
