PETALING JAYA: A senior police officer’s six-year-old son was killed after their motorcycle collided with a car on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) heading from Sungai Besi to Cheras earlier this morning.
Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the car was on the leftmost lane when the police officer’s motorcycle crashed into the back of the vehicle.
“The collision resulted in both the motorcycle rider (the senior officer) and passenger (his son) being thrown onto the same lane and sustaining injuries. Traffic was slow at the time,” he said in a statement.
“They were taken to the emergency ward at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.”
Sarifudin said the boy succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment, whereas his father suffered injuries to both arms. The car driver was not injured.
He said the case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. - FMT
