DFC transfers Facebook 'admin' over 'Type-C' incident

The management of Darsa Fried Chicken Restaurant (DFC) has transferred a staff member who made racist comments on the restaurant’s official Facebook page to another operational department.

Its chief executive officer, Mohammed Faiz Zuhdi, said they took the responsibility seriously and claimed that the staff’s action did not reflect the views or values held by DFC.

“As a decisive measure, the top management has transferred the staff to another operational department.

“She is a female staff with no training or experience in handling social media. I believe she has no (bad) intentions.

“Just an hour before the incident, I had even given instructions not to respond to any comments on social media,” he said at a press conference at DFC Restaurant Rawang today.

However, he did not blame the staff member and said the incident may have occurred due to emotions. Faiz added that it was a mistake caused by management lapses.

He also confirmed that authorities have not contacted the restaurant over the incident.

“So far, we have not received any calls from the police, but the management is willing to work with any enforcement authority on this issue.

“However, we hope this issue will not be prolonged, as we want to focus on our business,” said Faiz.

‘Professional team’

Moving forward, he said that DFC has appointed a “professional team” to manage the company’s communications, as well as its social media accounts.

“The DFC management has formed an experienced team to manage, and ensure more effective communications and social media management.

“The team will closely monitor all contents, feedback and comments. Every (social media) post and feedback will have to have the approval of the top management before they are published.

“This is to ensure conformity and compliance with our ethical standards,” Faiz added.

The company is also planning to host an open house event soon, to appreciate the support it has garnered from customers after 10 days of doing business.

“We plan to gift a present to all those who support us; we will have a huge feast, God willing.”
