KKB BLOG | I'm a local boy, insists Khairul

DAY 12 | The countdown begins, three days to go before Kuala Kubu Baharu voters head to the polling station.

We will report from time to time from the ground.

I'm a local boy, insists Khairul

5.02pm: Perikatan Nasional candidate Khairul Azhari Saut insists that he is a local candidate despite being a registered voter for Batang Kali.

“This by-election came unexpectedly. So, it doesn’t matter where I vote as long as I’m from Hulu Selangor,” he says.

Pressed on why he keeps calling himself a local candidate, Khairul (above) insists on the fact that Kuala Kubu Baharu is located in Hulu Selangor.

“Kuala Kubu Baharu is a big area, under the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency,” he says.

PN intimidating voters with threat to file petition

11.30am: Perikatan Nasional’s statement that it will file a petition in the Election Court if Pakatan Harapan wins the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was clearly to intimidate voters, says Harapan Youth information chief Ammar Atan.

He says the opposition coalition should have lodged a report to the Election Commission if it had solid evidence that Harapan violated election laws.

“The threat to file a petition if PN loses is clear evidence that PN does not want voters to go out to vote and exercise their rights,” Ammar says as quoted by Bernama.

On Monday, it was reported that PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan claimed that there was a misuse of government assets during the campaign and that PN will file a petition if Harapan wins the polls.

‘Pang is not anyone’s proxy’

10.30am: Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor - Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming attended a Chinese community dinner in Batang Kali to campaign for Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao last night.

It was the first time the Teluk Intan MP made his appearance on the campaign trail since nomination day.

“Pang is a young, professional, and capable politician; she is not anyone's proxy. She is truly the best spokesperson for Kuala Kubu Baharu,” said Nga yesterday.

Other guests included DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Chan Foong Hin, and Human Resource Minister Steven Sim.

According to a poster shared on Pang’s Facebook, Nga (above) will attend a ceramah at the Kampung Asam Kumbang basketball court at 7pm today.

Others speaking tonight include Selangor exco Ng Suee Lim, Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman, and Rawang assemblyperson Chua Wei Kiat. - Mkini
