More trees fall after heavy rains, strong winds around KL and Selangor

Several trees fell in parts of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor due to downpours and strong winds, causing damage to roads and vehicles.

Berita Harian reported the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s spokesperson as saying that its team received multiple distress calls from the public about the matter.

“We received information about four lorries being damaged by a fallen tree near a petrol station located on Old Klang Road.

“We also received reports of a similar incident near a UM hostel – where an uprooted tree fell on an electric pole and blocked the main road,” the spokesperson said.

The agency added that a similar incident was reported at TTDI.

“A tree fell on Jalan Long Yew Koh, TTDI, resulting in the road getting blocked.”

However, the spokesperson said no one was hurt in the incidents and they have already started to clean up the areas involved with the support of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s assistant director for operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said his team received a distress call about a fallen tree in Jalan Templer heading towards Old Klang Road at 6.19pm.

“The tree fell on a car, but no one was hurt,” he added. - Mkini
