Well The Guardian has picked up on the orang utan news.

My Comments :
This is actually a really dumbkoff idea. The orang utan is an endangered species. There are not many orang utans left in the jungle. And you want to give our orang utans away to palm oil buyers.
You have to ask the Sarawakians and the Sabahans first because thats where the orang utans live. I doubt the Premier of Sarawak Abang Johari will agree. Orang Utans were not party to the Malaysia Agreement (MA63) either. You simply cannot tell the orang utans what to do.
I have an alternative suggestion. In "West Malaysia" we dont have orang utan but we have plenty of beruk, kera, ungka, mawas. They may be protected species but I dont think any of them are on the list of endangered species. Why not give away a beruk or an ungka instead of an orang utan?
If you do not know an ungka from a mawas or a beruk well the DYMM Sultan of Selangor owns a painting which has most of these species.
