PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended a special Kedah state development meeting today at which Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor presented a “wish list” of projects for federal approval.
It is learnt that at the meeting lasting more than an hour, Anwar was briefed on federal development projects being implemented in Kedah, Bernama reported.
Sanusi had spoken last month of a Kedah “wish list” of projects for which he sought federal government approval. At an Aidilfitri event earlier today, he spoke of plans for a new airport in Kulim which he hoped would be approved by the prime minister.
After today’s briefing, Sanusi said there were more than a dozen projects listed, with six projects presented to the prime minister.
“The prime minister responded positively and he immediately approved some of the requests, while he would refer the rest to the relevant ministries,” Sanusi said at a press briefing, New Straits Times reported.
Others at the meeting were deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu, education minister Fadhlina Sidek and the chief secretary to the government, Zuki Ali. - FMT
