Zayn Rayyan murder case my 'debt' to people, says CID chief

Bukit Aman has never closed its investigations surrounding the murder of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin whose body was found near his home in Kuala Lumpur, a day after the six-year-old autistic boy was reported missing last December.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the case is still active and the department is always looking for new leads.

“As I always say, we never close any case. The case is now waiting for new leads, but unfortunately, even after the reward was offered, we did not receive new leads.

"I understand the community is not satisfied with the development of this case, but like I said, we never forget the case and that is my debt to the community," he said during a press conference in Bukit Aman today.

Shuhaily said this when asked to comment on any latest developments in the Zayn Rayyan (above) case.

Meanwhile, Shuhaily also expressed his hope for a “new light” in the case.

"If I retire without solving the case, that will be my failure. We have tried our best and tried all avenues, but we still lack (clues).

"We hope there is still ‘light’ in this case,” he said, despite noting that a large crowd on scene at the time could have jeopardised potential evidence.

On last Dec 5, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing in Damansara Damai, Kuala Lumpur before being found dead near a creek, about 200m from his Apartment Idaman block the next day. - Mkini
