Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin’s son has been charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today with one count of receiving an RM100,000 bribe.
Before judge Rozina Ayob, Faisal Hamzah pleaded not guilty to receiving the money from Izmir Abd Hamid, allegedly as payment for Heitech Padu Bhd to appoint Syarikat Rimba Merpati Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Per My Solutions as marketing consultants.
The alleged offence is linked to Heitech Padu being purportedly awarded an RM33 million tender by the Companies Commission for the supply, rental, implementation, training, support and maintenance of security infrastructure.
The 40-year-old was accused of committing the offence at an office at Publika Shopping Gallery, Jalan Dutamas 1, in March 2018.
He was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 which carries a jail sentence of up to 20 years and a fine five times the alleged amount of graft or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
The court allowed Faisal to be released on RM25,000 bail with one surety and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court pending disposal of the case.
The court set July 5 for mention.
Counsel Ravinder Singh Dhalliwal acted for the accused, while Mahadi Abdul Jumaat prosecuted.
In April last year, before the Seremban Sessions Court, Faisal claimed trial to nine counts of violations linked to cooking oil subsidies. - Mkini
