Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Helmi Aris said a report on the matter was made at 11.48pm yesterday by an employee of a fast-food outlet in Taman Inderawasih, Perai.
He said the worker had received an online food order through the restaurant’s website at 8.27pm.
Helmi said in a statement. As he was checking the order, the worker discovered that the receipt included a remark that insulted Islam,
The receipt had included the name of a business premise and a phone number. However, Helmi said the person whose details were on the receipt denied placing an order.
he said.It is suspected that their personal details and address had been misused. The (outlet’s) website for placing orders also lacked proper security features to protect users,
The case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code for intentionally wounding the religious feelings of others, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.
A similar case happened in May, after a message apparently mocking Islam was printed on a customer’s receipt from a fast-food chain outlet.
Four foreigners were later arrested to assist in the investigation. - FMT
