ISKANDAR PUTERI: Thirteen pupils from Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Muar suffered from food poisoning after consuming food sold at the school's canteen.
Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the canteen has been ordered to temporarily cease operations following the incident on Wednesday (Nov 27).
“The affected pupils received treatment at clinics and government hospitals, with one or two treated at private hospitals.
“They did not experience severe symptoms, and none required hospitalisation. All of them were discharged after receiving treatment,” he said, adding that the pupils are from Year 1 to Year 6.
He said this in a press conference at the sidelines of the Johor state assembly sitting here today.
He added that district health officers inspected the school canteen earlier today (Nov 28) and food samples were collected and sent to a lab for testing.
"The results of the food samples will be available within a week.
"The district health office has also instructed the canteen to close temporarily for cleaning work for two weeks.
“Once the cleaning is completed, district health officers will conduct further inspections, and if satisfied, they may allow the canteen to reopen earlier,” he added. - Mkini
