PETALING JAYA: Police will be submitting the investigation paper on a lecturer accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad and Islam to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) next Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed the investigation paper is being finalised, Berita Harian reported today.
He also said police had received nine reports against the academic and have recorded statements from five people to help in the investigation.
Razarudin previously said the lecturer, accompanied by his lawyer, was quizzed by Bukit Aman’s classified crimes unit on Nov 25.
The case is being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities and Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony on grounds of religion.
It was reported that the suspect made a joke about the prophet and his wife, Aisha, and gave a portrayal of the prophet while making cynical statements. - FMT
