PETALING JAYA
More than 40,000 Grab partners in Sarawak collectively earned over RM100 million on the platform last year, the multinational technology company revealed.

Grab Malaysia managing director Adelene Foo said the money earned by its partners in Sarawak underscored the company’s significant impact on the state’s economy.

Foo also said equipping micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the state with innovative solutions had led to significant growth.

“We have witnessed a 16% year-on-year increase in Sarawak, where over half of these businesses maintain five-star ratings as rated by millions of food lovers,” she said at Grab Malaysia’s recent Sembang TechTarik event in Kuching.

And with Sarawak poised to welcome five million tourists in 2025, Foo said that Grab was thrilled by the prospect of supporting the state’s tourism ambitions with technology-driven solutions.

Foo noted that 65% of foreign tourists in Malaysia rely on the Grab app in search of “authentic local experiences”.

She said one such feature is the Grab Tourist Pact, which allows international tourists to enjoy instant savings on rides and meals while exploring Southeast Asia.

Beyond convenience, these initiatives also boost visibility and sales for local businesses, she said.

“We are committed to empowering local businesses and partners with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s digital economy.”

Last week, Grab revealed that its partners in Terengganu collectively earned over RM10 million on the platform last year, with the regional super app providing income opportunities for more than 10,000 local partners since its launch in the state in 2017. - FMT
