Hannah says viral house arrest order is fake

 Federal territories minister says her press secretary has lodged a report with the authorities over the matter.

Federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh dismissed allegations that she signed a house arrest order after photos of the purported document were circulated on social media.

In a Facebook post, Yeoh said the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB) had yet to convene.

“Please do not circulate this fake document. My press secretary has lodged a report with the authorities,” she added.

The circulation of the document follows a report that the FTPB will meet today to discuss former prime minister Najib Razak’s bid for a pardon.

The meeting, reported by the Straits Times yesterday, would come just a week after the board deferred Najib’s application at its previous meeting.

It was reported that the Sept 11 FTPB meeting was expected to consider Najib’s bid for a pardon, among other matters.

Najib, 73, was convicted six years ago of misappropriating RM42 million in SRC International funds. He was sentenced to 12 years in jail and a RM210 million fine.

The FTPB later reduced this to six years and RM50 million. He has been serving his sentence at Kajang prison since August 2022.

In December 2025, he was convicted of abuse of power and money laundering involving more than RM2 billion linked to 1MDB. He was sentenced to 15 years’ jail and fined RM11.38 billion. He is appealing this conviction. - FMT
