'Here's how to write it': Akmal dares Nga to honour resignation pledge after Loke quits

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has reminded Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming of his earlier pledge to resign, following DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke's announcement that he was stepping down as transport minister.

In a Facebook post, Akmal said Loke's resignation was a case of "ordering one thing and getting another".

"If you have forgotten or are pretending to forget, let me remind you how to write a resignation letter.

"You can share it with your other friends too, if they dare," he said.

Earlier, Loke announced his resignation as transport minister following the decision to grant former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak conditional house arrest.

However, Loke said other DAP ministers and deputy ministers would remain in the Unity Government.

He also acknowledged that some quarters were waiting for DAP to leave the government so Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would lose parliamentary support, potentially leading to the dissolution of Parliament.

Nga, who is also DAP deputy chairman, had previously said he would be the first minister to resign if Umno won a landslide victory in the Johor election and Najib was released without serving a fitting sentence.

Meanwhile, Akmal also shared a July 12 post featuring his resignation letter as a Melaka executive councillor, offering it as a reference for Nga. - NST
