A landslip and flooding hit low-lying areas in Kota Kinabalu city following a six-hour downpour.
The landslip just a few feet from a wooden house sent the occupants scurrying for safety at Kampung Batong Duvason in Putatan near here around 10pm on Saturday, about an hour after the rain stopped.
A Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said no one was hurt in the minor landslip as most of the earth from a hill fell just out-side the rear of the double-storey house.
He said the family of eight was advised to move out of the house for the time being.
Meanwhile, low lying areas including main roads were hit by flash floods, causing traffic snarls.
They included residential areas such as Dah Yeh Villa, Foh Sang, Lido and Kobusak and commercial areas such as Karamunsing and Sadong Jaya.
Flood waters began to recede after 9pm. - Star
