Ahmad Maslan: Poor turnout at Orange Rally proves settlers’ confidence in FGVH listing

TAPAH, July 15 — The poor turnout at the Orange Rally yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, which targeted the participation of 20,000 Felda settlers, proved that the settlers are confident about the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGVH) in Bursa Malaysia, Umno Information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said.
He also claimed that the majority of the 3,000 people who attended the gathering, which was organised by the National Association of Children of Felda Settlers (Anak), were members of opposition parties.
“I want to congratulate the settlers for not supporting the gathering. What we (government) do, we do it in the right way,” said Ahmad (picture), who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, after opening the Tapah Umno delegates’ meeting here today.
On the move made by certain bloggers to use photographs of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Gua Musang Member of Parliament, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, to lure the public to attend the gathering, Ahmad said it was an irresponsible act.
“The two leaders never said that they were against the listing and they, through their representatives, have also denied any involvement in the gathering,” he said.
The gathering was held to submit a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to ask for royal intervention in the listing of FGVH. — Bernama
