Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor is confident that majority of voters in Putrajaya will reject PAS vice-president Husam Musa, who is set to contest there in the coming general election.
In fact, the incumbent Putrajaya MP believes Husam will be rejected by two-thirds of the voters there, as the latter is an “outsider”.
He said the people will choose a representative “who is known and takes an interest in their needs”.
“I am confident Husam will get a two-third rejection, especially since he does not come from Putrajaya.
“Even though people from Putrajaya say I am not originally from Putrajaya, it is a new place but I have been here since it was developed in the 1990s. And they are more familiar (with me),” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
Tengku Adnan (left), who is also Putrajaya Umno chief, said Umno is unfazed at facing Husam as the area is inhabited by civil servants of various backgrounds and origins.
“I am confident people will be rational (in choosing their representative),” he said when asked if state parochial sentiments would influence voters in Putrajaya.

'Parochial sentiments nothing to do with it'
He said such sentiments “have no bearing” on voters in the constituency.
“We are Malaysians. Parochial sentiments have no bearing. Whether he (voter) is from Kelantan, Johor, Selangor, has nothing to do with it,” he said.
According to him further, BN has no doubt it will be able to defeat Husam come May 5.

He said BN has been doing the work and holding programmes there since earlier on.
“All this while, the people knew what programmes and work carried out by the people’s representative since 2004 to now.
“They know the representative is carrying out the trust and his responsibility for the people” he said.
Umno has 43 branches in Putrajaya, while BN component parties MCA, MIC and Gerakan also have party branches there.
