DID COPS INSTIGATE PENANG BODY-SNATCHING? Come clean & punish the errant officers - MP

DID COPS INSTIGATE PENANG BODY-SNATCHING? Come clean & punish the errant officers - MP
It is nevertheless a great news to the deceased family when the Penang Syariah High Court ruled that Teoh Cheng Cheng is a non-Muslim and subsequently, Penang Islamic Affairs Department (JAIPP) has been ordered to return Teoh’s body to her family.
I wish to thank the Penang State Government for engaging a few lawyers, including Gobind Singh, Ramkarpal Singh and V. Raveentharan to assist the deceased family in filing to Penang High Court for a declaration that Teoh Cheng Cheng is a non-Muslim.
The apology offered by Penang State Executive Councillor Y.B. Abdul Malik bin Abul Kassim to the deceased family and his assurance that such an incident will not repeat again was very timely. The swift action by the State Government will also help to console the grieving family of the deceased.
The unnecessary action by JAIPP has embarrassed the Penang State Government and further tarnished the good image of Pakatan Rakyat leadership in Penang. The time constraint should not be a critical factor led to their action to seize the dead body from the deceased family.
Y.B. Abdul Malik bin Abul Kassim revealed that it was the police who contacted JAIPP to obtain Teoh’s body from the family and JAIPP officers also claimed that they were pressured by the police on Monday to act on the matter, which led to their decision to seize Teoh’s body.
I want the police to come clean over these allegations. Failing which, harsh action should be taken against the police officer involved. At the same time, the JAIPP officers concerned must also be transferred as to take full responsibility over their miscarriage of justice.
Since the incident happened in my constituency, as the MP for Tanjong, I want these JAIPP officers to be punished although they had personally apologized and explained to the Penang State EXCO in-charge of Islamic affairs.
I would like to thank Y.B. Lau Keng Ee, State Assemblyman for Pengkalan Kota which is fall under Tanjong for his tireless efforts in assisting the deceased family to seek the justice for Teoh Cheng Cheng. Finally, the justice has been returned and we hope that the deceased can be cremated as soon as possible. Rest in Peace!
NG WEI AIK IS THE MP FOR TANJONG
