In the wake of the on-going SAR efforts of the disaster involving a third Malaysian carrier, our hearts are united in prayer and extending our support and assistance to the grieving families of MH370, MH17 and AirAsia’s QZ8501.
While it is most painful to lose our fellow human friends in such mysterious aviation disasters, we remain inspired by the human efforts to stretch out a hand and give a shoulder in these moments of acute mourning.
Meanwhile Malaysians must not forget too, the slaying of a lone mother, daughter and citizen of a foreign country in our land of endless possibilities – Altantuya.
No justice for cruelly-killed Altantuya, why wouldn't she curse Malaysia?
Mongolians and concerned Malaysians are hopelessly waiting to know who killed the Mongolian citizen and why. Those implicated and arrested and tried in court are free while the puzzle seems to get buried as the years roll by.
Imagine, no one – amongst us 30 million Malaysians, is able to bring justice to the late Altantuya and her surviving family. No politician has the guts and commitment to stand up and demand a conclusive justice to this world-unprecedented murder.
How can we salvage the faltering perception of our judiciary if despite all these years no one knows who killed her; why she was killed; and how a lone, fragile and totally helpless woman could be murdered by blowing her into near nothingness using explosives that are kept in high security vaults.
We do not have the murderers captured and dealt with. We do not know who was behind this high profile murder.
While we join the world in working relentlessly to help contribute to the solving of mega-aviation disasters, we remain silently buried in the darkest tunnel of injustice for one single woman.
Can Malaysia continue to remain blind to this mother-of-all-tragedies? Can the people in power and positions and influence continue to remain tight lipped?
We preach justice to Malaysians. We trumpet justice to the world community of leaders. We pronounce fairness at every twist and turn. We demand for all kinds of oppressive laws to be enacted and revived in the name of ensuring speedy justice.
But who is going to ensure that speedy justice is rendered and the soul of poor Altantuya is laid to rest? Who is going to bring the culprits to book?
Since none of our politicians seem to be comfortable or willing to deal with this mother of all murders, pray will our Prime Minister’s spouse, Datin Seri Dr. Rosmah, please salvage our dignity and honor in the global eyes and bring peace to the living son of Altanuya and her weeping, grieving father?
Perhaps we need a media CSR effort to press for a conclusive justice for the woman murdered in our own Malaysian soil. - MAILBAG
