I refer to social media cacophony and frenzy on the ethnic roots of the Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, resulting from the 1MDB land purchase and immediate sale.
There have been aspersions cast on his "Malay" identity, accusations that he actually had an "Indian" name, some even denigrated all the leaders in and out of the government who happen to be from the Indian Muslim ethnic group!
This has gone too far.
While one may despise vehemently what the individual did, one never has the right to link it with his ethnic roots and continue to extend the insinuations to others of similar ilk.
I append herewith Article 160 of the Malaysian constitution which provides the definition of a "Malay" – to anyone who can read, this legal text proves beyond doubt that the TH chairman, indeed, is a "Malay", period!
Thus, should anyone still dispute its veracity, then the person should initiate a movement to amend the Malaysian constitution. Until then, please refrain from casting nefarious aspersions and heap denigration on all Indian Muslims community simply as a result of apprehensions derived from the act of one individual who hails from that community.
May I remind all of the Bank Bumiputera fiasco which not only led to millions of ringgit being lost, but an innocent life being extinguished in the course of investigations. Which ethnic group was heading the bank then?
All these prove that wicked and vile individuals come in all hues and shades. Their ethnic roots has absolutely nothing to do with what they did!
Believe that and one becomes a racist! – TMI
