Narcotics cop missing after patrol car plunges into Puchong mining pool
KUALA LUMPUR - Efforts are under way to locate a policeman after a police car plunged into a mining pool in Taman Perindustrian Meranti Jaya, Puchong, yesterday.
The missing policeman believed to be an Inspector is attached to the Narcotics Department of city police headquarters (IPK) in Jalan Hang Tuah.
A search was mounted last night after police were informed of the incident and it resumed at daybreak today.
City Narcotics chief Asst Commissioner Wan Abdullah Ishak said the Serdang police operations room received the information at 9.55pm.
“A concerned citizen called 999 and informed us that his employee, a Myanmar, saw a car coming from the Putra Perdana direction, speeding and plunging into the mine.
“The Fire and Rescue Department has been notified and a team from the Cyberjaya station arrived at the location last night along with a team of divers,” said Wan Abdullah.
However, he said the team had not been able to find the victim(s) yet as the search and rescue efforts were halted at 2.30am today and continued again at 9am this morning.
“From the findings, we found out that the car was registered under the Gombak Spanco Company and the investigation officer has called the company.
“We were briefed that the car was used by the IPK KL logistics department and based on a check with the officer in charge at IPK KL (city police headquarters), Inspector Zarani, it was confirmed that the car was used by the IPK KL Narcotics branch.”
According to Sepang acting police chief Superintendent Abdul Aziz Ali only parts of the car had been found.
The cause of the incident is still being investigated. - Therakyatpost.com
