A woman gives birth to a baby girl in a police station after she and her husband stop there to seek police assistance
IPOH: A policewoman was forced to play the role of a midwife yesterday when she helped a woman give birth to a baby girl in the compound of the Kampung Tawas police station.
The policewoman, Hasliza Abdul Jalil, 25, assisted the woman to deliver the baby in a car at about 1.15pm.
It was learnt that the woman, from Klebang Putra, was being taken by her husband to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, to deliver the baby.
However, realising that they could not reach the hospital on time, the husband went to the police station instead to seek help.
An ambulance was then called to take the mother and baby to the hospital.
Both of them were reported to be in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Ipoh district police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong, when contacted, confirmed the incident and congratulated the policewoman for her good deed.
Pictures and news of the incident have been uploaded on the Perak police Facebook account.
