BUKIT MERTAJAM: A pro-PKR non-governmental organisation, Suara Akar Umbi Keadilan (Sauk) has expressed its disappointment over the party’s choice of candidate in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election.
Sauk pro-tem president Mazli Saring, who is also a Kuala Selangor PKR member said PKR candidate Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should rightly focus on developing Kajang which she represented.
“Today we from Sauk have come to Permatang Pauh to enlighten residents on voting wisely and not to choose a representative who is only concerned about herself and her family.
“We do not want voters to make the wrong choice and be continuously misled by the PKR president,” he told reporters after staging a peaceful protest with 30 other Sauk members at the Permatang Pauh Commercial Centre here today.
He claimed that Wan Azizah’s absence in Kajang had become a question mark among the constituents there.
“We are disappointed because she as Kajang assemblyman should be attending to her constituents; it has not been many months (since her election) and she is already in Permatang Pauh aspiring to be its member of parliament (MP).
“Why does she want to be the MP here when she had resigned as the representative in 2008 to make way for her husband (Anwar Ibrahim).
“Kak Wan (Azizah)’s reason at the time was that she wanted to take care of her children and grandchildren, but why want to be the MP here again?
“As PKR president she should focus on uniting the party and flush out the unfavourable elements in PKR,” said Mazli, who had been a PKR member since 1999
