DAP’s Skudai assemblyman says backstabbing resulted in him failing to obtain enough votes for a place in 15-man committee during state party elections.
GELANG PATAH: DAP’s Skudai state assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau announced his resignation as Johor Opposition leader, citing the intense backstabbing that has taken place in the state DAP.
“I can’t continue my role as the state opposition leader as there have been concerted efforts in backstabbing by those in the state DAP.
“This has also caused me to get insufficient votes to secure a place in the state’s 15-man DAP committee during party elections in Batu Pahat yesterday,” he was quoted by The Rakyat Post as saying today.
He said this at the Gelang Patah DAP division headquarters in Taman Sri Orkid near Johor Baru.
According to The Star Online, Boo took 16th place with 164 votes, with 31 candidates vying for the positions.
Most in the new line-up are generally believed to be aligned with re-elected Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong.
Boo, 51, has been Opposition leader, representing Pakatan Rakyat, in the Johor State Legislative Assembly since 2008.
