The party's legal bureau head Gobind Singh Deo said the home minister must say what precautionary measures the police will take to safeguard the people's interests in light of such cases.
He added that the people needed to know whether it was safe to submit to arrests when they are approached by police officers.
In a statement today, the Puchong MP highlighted a few cases, including one which occurred nearly two months ago where four persons - believed to be police officers, one of whom was in uniform – arrested Manogaran Krishnan and V. Ganesan at a factory and took them away.
Gobind added that efforts to contact them failed and police reports have been lodged.
"Yesterday the families of the victims were asked to provide doctors with DNA samples in order to determine if two highly-decomposed bodies found were that of the two men.
"This scenario is not unheard of," he said.
He then highlighted another case in February 2013 where a Datuk K. Gobala Guru was arrested by persons believed to be police officers outside a hotel in Jalan Maharajalela in Kuala Lumpur.
He too was not heard from or seen again.
Prior to that, on April 4, 2011, five men in Seri Serdang were having breakfast when they were arrested by men who had badges and handcuffs, Gobind said, adding that the five have not been seen since.
The lawmaker said that in light of these cases, the government cannot remain silent.
"This is a matter of public interest and concern. If one resists arrest, that would in itself be an offence.
"But submission to arrest may cost much more instead, going by the cases above," he added.
