Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin returned home from a two-week holiday break in Dubai but remained tight-lipped on Umno politics and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
"I am not making any political statement. I am just saying I am happy to be back," he said when met at the KL International Airport.
He was asked if dissidents in the party have lost their platform as the annual general assembly last month seemed to show that party president Najib had the full support of Umno members.
"No. No comment. Happy New Year," he said.
Muhyiddin was denied his chance to address delegates during the four-day Umno assembly which concluded on Dec 12.
He has maintained a low profile since then before leaving for Dubai with his wife Noraini Abdul Rahman.
When pointed out that Najib was not visiting his home state Pahang whose capital was being hit by severe bauxite mining pollution, the former deputy prime minister continued to remain mum.
"I was away for a two-week break," he said.
Both Muhyiddin and Noraini seem to be in good mood on arrival. They were greeted by some 50 supporters at the arrival hall.
Muhyiddin was dropped as a deputy prime minister during a July 28 cabinet reshuffle. -Mkini
