ARE NAJIB & ROSMAH INVINCIBLE? WHAT 'BOMOH' ARE THEY USING OR IS M'SIA NO LONGER A DEMOCRACY
For over a year now, Malaysians from across the strata of society have been trying to oust Najib and Rosmah as the First Couple of this country but to no avail. There have been different attempts by different groups of people and organizations but so far none of these strategies have unseated them.
In fact, what has probably happened is that Najib and Rosmah have emerged stronger and are more firmly in control of this nation. How ironic and why is it that the knowingly and openly corrupt duo are still leading the country?
The single biggest reason to which some people may dispute is that Malaysia is no longer a democracy. It is only democratic in name but not in practice. This took a number of decades to evolve ever since Merdeka in 1957 when Malaysia was firmly established as a democracy.
Probably the turning point was in the last general election when the opposition coalition claimed victory and held the popular vote but it was Barisan Nasional (BN) that formed the government. This was when Malaysians were witness to the fall of democracy in this country.
In the aftermath of a failed democracy
With Malaysians dealt a severe blow because of the collapse of democracy, it was now a free passage for Najib and BN to tinker with the state and cause the creation of a police state. By putting in place people and mechanisms, Najib was able to dictate terms no matter whom or what he faced.
There is no mistaking the fact that in place now is a Draconian form of governance that stifles democracy and ensures that Najib and his cronies get to rule the roost without fear of any form of recriminations or punishment.
Najib and Rosmah and a number of their aides are now above the laws of the land and this is clearly being made known to everyone. Those who question or threaten them are removed or the dissent that arises is silenced by the mere wave of Najib’s and Rosmah’s hand.
It’s as if they are really emperors and this country no longer a free state. This is why there is no way or opportunity for anyone to try and oust Najib and Rosmah as Malaysia has become a rogue nation.  Though the burden on the ‘rakyat’ weighs heavy and oppressive, it is almost impossible to evict the duo.
Possible solutions
What has happened to this country is near tragic. There is no popular rule. It is the minority that leads the overwhelming majority.  Though the BN government does not enjoy the support of the majority of the people, yet they are in power.
This is why the oppression on the “rakyat” is growingly heavy and beginning to fester and torment them. The fact that popular rule is not in power is causing a number of factors to arise and the most visible sign is that living conditions or the Quality-of-Life has deteriorated very badly.
The biggest challenge to those who oppose the governance of Najib and the BN government is how to wrest control back of power. For this to happen, the opponents of Najib must speak in unison, in a singular voice and they must not be in sixes and sevens but be completely united as a single entity.
The other factor is that they must have the numbers to back them up. There is security in numbers and if those opposed to Najib and BN are able to muster and get the overwhelmingly majority to back them, their task of ousting Najib might just be possible.
United or divided
Any move to oust Najib must not be pre-emptive. In actuality, the only way maybe Najib is to be removed is if there is a very concrete, certain and sure thrust to oust him. But so far the bids to oust him have been feeble and sporadic and uncoordinated.
All these weak moves have been easily managed to be thwarted by Najib and this is the reason why he is so far unable to be dislodged from the chair of prime minister. If Malaysians are able to get the mandate in a shower of people power, they will be able to evict him.
But by each person wanting to go his or her way and pursuing their own agenda, there is no way a divided attempt will pass the test.  Malaysians must stick together and swim or sink together as one entity in their bid to restore democracy and oust Najib and Rosmah.
So far no such serious or powerful force, enough to evict Najib, has been put together and Najib is busy on the political chessboard planning his moves ahead to ensure that he will be able to cling on to power with his wife.
A nation in uncharted waters
How will Malaysia eventually turn out? There are a significant number of Malaysians who are not interested in finding out and they have already bailed out by migrating or moving to greener pastures. But what is the general feeling of other Malaysians.
It’s hard to say. But basically the boom times are definitely over and there is a feeling of all us being headed for gloom and doom. Morale is at an all-time low and though it badly needs to be bolstered, it is not forthcoming.
Malaysia is slipping very badly on the Happiness Index. People are unhappy and the daily grind to eke a living, to butter their bread is taking its toll on Malaysians and many households are actually on the edge wondering how long they will be able to hold together.
Only a top-down change of leadership in this country, and this is inevitable, only by going back to the drawing board of democracy and playing by the rules of the game are Malaysians going to rise up once again. While there is still hope to save the nation, every Malaysian must do their uttermost to do so. - MAILBAG
