Dr M takes a 'princely' dig at Najib

Islamic countries, according to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, have never shown their high appreciation for Prime Minister Najib's contribution to Islam.
"Up till now, we know that only 'HRH Prince Saudi Abdulaziz Al-Saud' is very appreciate of Najib's contribution to Islam that he (the prince) is willing to donate US$375 million to him to be kept in his private accounts secretly and to use the funds as he pleased," he said.
Mahathir was referring to a letter from the prince, which was published by the Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Putrajaya later claimed that the letter confirmed Najib's stand and the findings of the authorities regarding the sum in his bank account.
Meanwhile, in his blog posting, Mahathir said attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has claimed that RM2.03 billion from the RM2.6 billion donation has been returned.

"Is this true? What proof is there that it has been returned to the HRH (prince) or some other Arab? Is it possible the money is still here to be fed to Umno leaders.
"Shahrir Samad (Johor Bahru MP) may have received RM1 million and Ahmad Maslan (Pontian MP) RM2 million.
"It is not possible that they are the only ones who received monetary contributions from Najib. How many millions were received by (Umno) division leaders and other elected representatives?” he asked.
Mahathir also lashed out at Umno leaders who were willing to "shut their eyes, mouths and ears”.
The former premier claimed that the nation is now witnessing a contest between "cash" and Malay nationalism.
"Many Umno members and branch members have given victory to nationalism, race, religion and their motherland.
"But for division leaders and Umno elected representatives, victory is achieved when they close their mouths, eyes and ears.
"They are willing to pawn (their) race and nation for cash or dedak (animal) feed," he said.
Mahathir said there is no need to issue denials with regard to the allegations against Najib because not only Malaysians, but the entire world is aware of the matter.
He noted that even the prime minister's brother, CIMB chairperson Nazir Razak admitted receiving US$7 million from Najib, which was then disbursed to party leaders.
"It is most embarrassing when there are Malays who are not embarrassed, (and are) willing to accept a leader who is disparaged by the world," he said.
Simply based on Najib's denial of wrongdoing, Mahathir said Umno division leaders and lawmakers remain silent or even attempt to defend him.
"Their stand is extraordinary. It is as if accepting that when a crime happens, the culprit is identified but just because he denies (committing the crime), it means he is innocent.
"If a denial is accepted as the basis for a prosecution, then nobody in this country would be charged,” he added. -Mkini
