YOURSAY | ‘Not that it absolves Lim, but no one in Umno has credibility to call for accountability.’
Malaccan: Is there anyone in Umno who still has moral standing when the party president is mired in questionable activity relating to amounts many more times than that of the Penang CM?
Not that it absolves the Penang CM, but just that no one in Umno, including party information chief Annuar Musa, has the moral high ground nor the credibility to call for accountability after his support for the party president.
Truly each and every Umno member and their allies in BN must share the blame for the PM's donation scandal as well as the 1MDB imbroglio because of their defence of the PM.
Needless to say, BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan was playing to the crowd and has likewise been found greatly lacking in integrity for having shown no further proof on the matter that is convincing.
His point of attack has been broken by the statement made by KLIDC's owner which saw the need for Abdul Rahman's hasty retreat which promptly turned into a screaming skirt raising rout.
Vent: I’m no fawning devotee of Penang CM Lim Guan Eng but when Umno warlords start pontificating about morality, they must have either gone senile or suffered from amnesia for they are already totally impervious to shame.
Odin Tajué: Annuar, the ±RM4 billion allegedly stepping into PM Najib Razak's bank accounts is an immoral quickstep, the RM2 million in cash deposited into his wife Rosmah Mansor's bank account is an immoral foxtrot, the RM100 million stolen by some Ministry of Youth and Sports poolroom dancer is an immoral tango, the hundreds of millions of ringgit property gamble of certain Mara ballerinos is an immoral ballet, and so on.
There are so many immoral missteps performed by Umno politicians and their family members, friends and cronies that they are tripping all over one another and rocking and rolling into the hall of shame in political hell.
Oxymoronictendencies: Morally wrong? Goodness. Umno doesn't understand "morality" given their blind unquestioning support for a PM who it appears has been at best grossly incompetent and negligent.
In any other functioning democracy across the world, a leader guilty of such malfeasance would have resigned long ago. Morality would have dictated that. So for Umno leaders to preach about morality is the ultimate hypocrisy.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: No way Lim would have gotten the bungalow for that price if it wasn't for his position as chief minister. Agree.
And no way would the son of a minister buy a multi-million-dollar apartment in New York if it wasn't for the position of his father. This is only one example. There are lots more.
Roguekiller: Everybody want to buy a house as cheap as possible, this is common sense, only idiots want to make an issue out of it.
Annuar, Mara had purchase properties in Australia way, way above the mark value, why haven't you condemned and bring those fraudsters, perhaps including yourself, to book.
Perda sold land at RM15 million less of the market value; a loss of RM15 million. What is your take, Annuar? You kept quiet because Perda chief Shahbudin Yahya is an Umno bigot.
Finally, there is such thing as "willing-seller/willing-buyer". I have gone through this process; if the seller is not willing accept my offer, he keeps his property and wait for donkey years for the next buyer to come along. Stupid, isn't it?
If he had accepted to close the deal, he could have invested the money to make more.
Nonyxyz: Umno MP sold Perda land at RM15 million discount to a private firm with no open bid and that company together with you know who is laughing all the way to the bank. How moral is this, Annuar?
Caripasal: Umno is talking about moral? MACC will never be able to find any evidence of wrongdoing, simply because there is none.
No matter how Umno tries to link the bungalow to the sale of the land, there is not a single traces of corruption.
Perhaps I would have sold the bungalow for RM2 million to Lim for his political honesty. Moral is something that Annuar cannot buy, regardless of his wealth.
The Analyser: Clearly Umno could find nothing illegal about the sale. But then the issue had nothing to do with legality, but more to do with common sense and ethics.
GE14Now!: It is truly mind boggling when someone from Umno comes up with a moral angle. What right does anyone in that corrupt, racist and morally bankrupt party have to talk about moral rights?
This is a party of scandals and of open bribes and they want to talk about morals?
Ah-hah!!!: And what about the US$7 million which was transferred from Najib's account into his brother Nazir's \ account to be distributed to BN leaders - a transfer which Nazir has since publically regretted, and just stepped aside from his position as CIMB chairman?
Indeed, does Nazir's words - that he "believed in good faith that the US$7 million came from legitimate political fund-raising" - not imply that he no longer thinks the funds are legitimate?
TC Chan: Perhaps it was morally all right for Mara to pay above market value and then for those doing the deal to keep the extra?
Lim had a sweetheart deal. So far, no one has offered any evidence of wrongdoing. How I wish I could buy at below market. I am sure Annuar Musa would too. -Mkini
