I'd rather buy the PM than referees, quips crown prince

In dismissing the claim that the Johor football team, popularly known as JDT, "buys" referees, crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim quipped he would rather set his sights on the prime minister.
"With all the money I have do you really think I will buy the referees?
"I'll be more interested to buy the prime minister and make myself the prime minister rather than paying referees to win a football match. But what to do? I always think big and they always think small," he said.
Tunku Ismail, who is also referred to as TMJ, the acronym for Tengku Mahkota Johor or crown prince, also responded to another accusation that he relished flaunting his wealth.
"The mentality difference between those narrow-minded individuals and me is that I feel worried and pity towards them for having to pay GST, while they are more worried about TMJ showing off his wealth. Congratulations! You're the type of people the government around the world likes. Because you're blind," he said.
As for the claim that JDT is all about money, the crown prince replied: "No, RM100 million and many more are missing in the country and no one is looking for it. You should channel your curiosity on that rather than JDT's money. JDT is just a small club with big dreams."
Although he did not elaborate on the "missing money", the Youth and Sports Ministry was recently hit by a RM100 million embezzlement scandal involving one of its senior officers.
Below are the other negative comments circulating on social media and the crown prince's responses to them, which were posted on Facebook:
1.JDT can't produce talented players so they only know to buy players from other teams.
Tunku Ismail: True. So you keep on producing them because I want to continue buying them.
3. JDT kills Malaysian football.
Tunku Ismail: It's true. JDT killed football. That's why we are the first team in Southeast Asia to win the AFC Cup, putting Malaysia on the map in the football arena. We killed football whereas FAM helps Malaysian football by making money and only keeping an interest in the Suzuki Cup. JDT will continue killing. Not to worry.
4. JDT is the richest team in the country that's why they always win.
Tunku Ismail: Wrong. Felda, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor are the richest teams in the country. Felda is the strongest because it's funded by the federal government. They need votes so Felda is the strongest and the richest.
5.JDT is nothing compared to Pantai Timur (east coast) teams.
Tunku Ismail: That's why it takes 3 teams combined to beat 1.
6. JDT steals players.
Tunku Ismail : It's not stealing when the players want to come here. -Mkini
