IGP: Police probing viral video of 'cops taking bribe'

Police are probing a viral video depicting policemen allegedly forcing a young individual into giving a bribe, said inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said.
"We are investigating the matter, action will be taken against the policemen responsible for this.
"We call on members of the public to come forward and shed light on the incident," Khalid told Malaysiakini.
In the three-minute video, two individuals dressed as police officers were seen harassing a young man who appeared to be in his teens.
After going through his wallet, the policemen had a long chat with the victim, who is then made to discreetly give one of the officers something out of his wallet, which the copper pocketed.
After shaking the officer's hand, the victim just walked away.
The video ended with the officer passing a phone to another individual in plain clothes, who used it to make a phone call.
In a statement on the video, pro-Najib NGO Pertubuhan Minda Sosial dan Prihatin (PMSP) chief Ramesh Rao said the action of the policemen recorded in the video had brought shame to the men in blue.
However, he urged the public not to judge the entire police force simply based on this one video. -Mkini
