Malaysia's oldest mountain climber, James Lee Chong Meng will continue his climb in the mission to conquer Mount Everest tomorrow, as it was raining and misting today.
Lee, 68, who is undertaking the Lions Mount Everest Expedition (MEE) 2016, said professional Sherpas accompanying him in the climb advised him to continue at 8 am tomorrow.
"We are forced to spend the night at Lukla due to the bad weather," he told Bernama.
He said the length of climb from the first checkpoint, namely, from the Pasang Lhamu gate in Lukla to Phakding takes four hours in good weather.
After Phakding, Lee said he would head to Monju and spend the night there before continuing to Nache.
The ex-engineer, who has created a record as the oldest climber in Southeast Asia and Malaysia, is attempting to conquer the 8,848 metre high mountain.
Lee left for Kathmandu, Nepal on Thursday and is expected to end his mission in 70 days.
