A lawyer has handed in new evidence to the Attorney-General’s Department in relation to the disposal of state land in Taman Manggis and the purportedly linked purchase of a bungalow below market value by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
As reported by national news agency Bernama, lawyer Abu Backer Sidek, when met by reporters before handing in the forensic evidence, said that he had also asked attorney-general Apandi Ali to expedite charges against the CM.
Prior to this, he had also delivered forensic evidence he claimed are linked to the case to the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Lim’s purchase of the RM2.8 million bungalow located along Jalan Pinhorn, George Town was brought up by Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya during the last Dewan Negara sitting, alleging that it was at below market value.
Meanwhile, the land in Taman Manggis which was earlier allocated for a people’s housing project, was sold to a developer who planned to build a private hospital and hotel on the plot of land. --Mkini
