No water shortage in Selangor

SPAN confident Selangor will not face a water shortage, unlike northern parts of the country.

PETALING JAYA: Selangor will not face any water crisis, National Water Services Commission (SPAN) said today.
Earlier today, Klang MP Charles Santiago urged Selangor MB Azmin Ali to act quickly to prevent a water crisis in the state.
The DAP MP claimed that water at the Sungai Selangor and Semenyih dams was diminishing at a rate of 0.62% and 0.47% respectively on a daily basis, and that Selangor could face a crisis stretching to as far as Ramadan in June.
However, SPAN Chairman Ismail Kasim refuted this, saying that Selangor would not have any water shortage as opposed to the northern parts of Malaysia.
“The northern parts of the country may have shortages because they have no dams.
“I just checked with my officers and I can assure you that our dams are at very safe levels.
“Everything that we are doing and implementing will be okay.
“We are always coordinating with each other and we can manage, we can handle,” Ismail told FMT.
He also said Selangor was working together with Pahang to ensure that a water shortage would not happen.
