SHOT DEAD IN PRISON GANG FIGHT - FORMER SEA GAMES NATIONAL BOXER!

PETALING JAYA - A former SEA Games national boxer and silver medalist who was held at the Sungai Buloh prison over a kidnap case was killed in a gang clash between two groups on Saturday.
The dead prisoner, 25-year-old G. Ramkumar, who came out second in the 69kg boxing category in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar was stabbed in the back after being set upon by a group of inmates in a revenge attack at 12.30pm.
Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Rozi Jidin said investigators have identified three inmates responsible for the killing and will haul up several other suspects who were involved in the fight.
He said the dead inmate who is in his 20s and was in jail over a kidnap case report in Klang last year was killed with a sharp object during the fight.
Mohd Rozi said several others were also wounded in the clash but the extent of their injuries are yet to be ascertained.
He said investigators are probing what had triggered the fight and how the sharp objects used in the killing were obtained by the men.

Sources said investigations showed that the dead prisoner was also involved in an earlier fight with his killers on April 8 and was placed in solitary confinement until he was released to his regular cell on Saturday.
"We need to question many more to determine what really took place. The three suspects we hauled up are being held and questioned at the prison premises. More suspects will soon be called up." he said.
Sources said the murder weapon is believed to be a sharpened metal angle bar.
It is learnt that more than a dozen inmates at the prison were involved in the clash which was brought under control by prison guards who later summoned the police.
Ramkumar who was under detention awaiting trial was a promising national boxer who had several successes under his belt for the sport.
However, soon after his SEA Games silver win three years ago, the athlete who is said to have been sent to reform school during his teen years was no longer active in the sport.
