Police say the man confessed that he lost money at gambling after being unable to say where the robbery happened.
SEREMBAN: A 26-year-old soldier is in remand for making a false police report of an armed robbery.
Seremban district police chief Muhamad Zaki Harun said the soldier was arrested after he confessed to making a false report while being questioned.
“The soldier confessed to making the false police report because he lost his money at a gambling table,” Muhd Zaki added.
According to the police report, the soldier had said he was robbed of RM120 by five men in a red proton Waja car near the Senawang Health Clinic, Taman Kemuning, near here, at about 2pm yesterday.
“However, following investigation, the complainant (soldier) failed to give a consistent statement on the incident and also to tell the exact location where the alleged robbery took place,” he added.
The soldier would be in remand until April 7 for investigation under Section 182 of the Penal Code.
