There is no shortcut to heaven, Najib tweets on Friday sermon

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak performed his Friday prayers at the iconic Masjid Putra in the administrative capital of Putrajaya this afternoon.
Later, he tweeted about the contents of the sermon delivered at the mosque.
“I was at Masjid Putra, the sermon was regarding there is no shortcut to heaven.
“We must work towards it (attaining a place in heaven) and reinforce Islamic tenets in daily life,” he added.
The sermon, prepared by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim), had touched on the extreme understanding of jihad, which it said must be avoided.
The text said the path to heaven was through faith in Allah and the performing of good deeds as taught by Prophet Muhammad.
In other words, it added, there are no shortcuts.
Yesterday, the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor advised her husband to remain patient in the face of the allegations against him.
Describing it as a divine test, she said what is important is that Allah knows the truth.
Najib has dismissed the allegations of corruption against him, describing them as the work of those conspiring to topple him from power, namely his former mentor-turned-nemesis Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The prime minister has also been cleared of any wrongdoing by attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali, but the allegations continue to persist.
Earlier, Najib tweeted about the haze and advised Malaysians to exercise caution.
“I see that the haze has returned to several areas.
“I hope all are careful, especially those who are working or always outdoors. Wear face masks and so forth,” he said.
Apart from this, the prime minister said outdoor physical activities, especially for the elderly and children should be reduced if the haze condition in the area is bad.
Najib’s twitter postings often invite an avalanche of negative responses, with other uses mocking him over the RM2.6 billion political donation and so forth.
Last week, Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said his government is aware of the donation and it was given without expectations. -Mkini
